For over a century, VNA of Middlesex-East has provided compassionate and expert home healthcare in Greater Boston communities. Our professional team of nurses, therapists, social workers, and home health aides work together to create a plan of care delivered in the patient’s home that promotes healing and prevents rehospitalization.
The agency also provides hospice services that help those who have reached a point in a terminal illness where the focus is not on curing the disease but on providing comfort care and support. This special kind of care helps families navigate the end of life experience with grace and dignity. Our hospice care can be provided in the home or at our Sawtelle Family Hospice House, a 10 bed residential facility located in Reading, MA.
We are a nonprofit organization with a staff of 130 employees and 50 volunteers. Home healthcare has become increasingly sophisticated and VNA of Middlesex-East continually strives to improve patient outcomes with expert training, technology, and data analysis. However, we never lose sight of the importance of providing the personal and compassionate service that is the hallmark of the visiting nurse mission. We know a nurse’s smile and gentle touch will always remain an integral part of our success.
Since 2003, VNA of Middlesex-East has been named among the Home Care Elite, an annual review produced by OCS, a healthcare benchmarking service that rates the most successful Medicare certified home health providers in the US. We are also recognized by Home Health Quality Improvement, a voluntary national quality initiative of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid, as demonstrating excellence in our efforts to reduce rehospitalization rates and improve the management of oral medications for home health patients.
Our Board of Directors consists of 12 individuals with a variety of professional backgrounds who live or work in the communities we serve. Generous individuals, businesses and foundations lend charitable support that helps us introduce new programs, purchase equipment, maintain our Hospice House, and provide care to all in need regardless of ability to pay for service.
Our mission is to provide comprehensive home health and hospice care. We foster and promote the health of individual, family and community through education and compassionate, high quality services.
